Google Maps Business Reviews Fraud Checking Tool

There is this new tool at stopcraponthemap.com that looks for suspicious and fake reviews on Google Maps and tells you which one they think they are. "This tool looks for unnatural review patterns from Google users. It uses several well tested heuristics to detect irregular activity," the tool writes. "More patterns will be added in version 1.2. Currently supporting USA and Canada listings only," they added. It is not clear who built the tool but the local SEO community is having fun using it.

I ran it on my business and it found one suspicious review from a reader I know here, so he will find it funny:

Google: Our Quality Algorithms Don't Use Machine Learning In A Targeted Way

John Mueller from Google answered a question about if Google's search quality algorithms, such as Panda, Penguin and others, use machine learning these days. I assume the question was asked by Glenn Gabe and John Mueller basically said Google doesn't use them in a "targeted way." He explained that it might be used for determining as a whole if a site is good or bad but not specifically for specific types of penalties

Google : Less Crawl Rate Isn't Necessarily A Bad Thing

Google's John Mueller said in the pas that crawl frequency and ranking higher are not directly related and you can rank high without a high crawl frequency.
John Mueller said it another way yesterday on Twitter basically saying that if you site sees a low crawl rate, it isn't necessarily a bad thing. John wrote "that's not necessarily a bad thing." "Some sites just don't change a lot, some are just less interesting, every site's different," he added.
